Chapter 7

650words
The glass cup fell to the ground and shattered.
Madison, choking back tears, cried out, "All you ever talk about is Lexie. Do you even remember that I’m your girlfriend? Do you know how it feels to watch you chase after women who look like Lexie every single day?"
What a pair of pathetic people.

As they pushed and shoved each other, Madison fell onto the broken glass.
Blood started to pool around her.
Her face turned pale, and she clutched her stomach in panic, crying out, "The baby! My baby!"
But Felix looked even more frantic as he turned to me.
"Lexie, don’t get the wrong idea."
I felt dazed.

Seeing Madison like this reminded me of myself a few years ago.
I was overjoyed when I found out I was pregnant.
But that little life was so fragile.
And where was Felix at that time?

Was he explaining himself to some other woman, or was he out having fun?
Suddenly, I felt a pang of pity for Madison.
She still could not see Felix’s true nature, and now she had lost a child who shared her blood, and her own body was hurt.
Chris suddenly grabbed my cold hand, covering my eyes as he calmly dialed for an ambulance.
When Madison regained her senses, she screamed with all her might.
"The baby! Felix, our baby is gone!"
Felix dismissed her, saying, "Alright, stop it. You’re acting like a lunatic! When Lexie had her miscarriage, she didn’t react this dramatically. You really are no match for her in any way!"
I thought to myself, they were perfect for each other. One was heartless, and the other was blind.
……
Madison stayed depressed for a long time.
With her out of the way, Felix started bothering me instead.
Every morning, he would be waiting outside my building with breakfast, and in the evening, he would stand outside my office with roses, waiting for me to finish work.
Such cliché attempts to win someone back.
It was annoying.
The only way to deal with it was to have Chris take me to and from work every day.
But that was not a real solution either.
It was like escaping one problem only to end up in another.
I had to figure out a way to get rid of Felix.
The next day, he did not show up outside my building.
After that, he stopped appearing altogether.
My life returned to its peaceful routine.
Except that Chris always insisted on having meals with me, under the pretense of repaying a favor.
But he never let me pay.
One night, I worked late and did not get home until much later than usual.
I was surprised to find a disheveled Felix waiting outside my door.
His hair was messy, his shirt wrinkled, and his face covered in stubble.
When he saw me, his dull eyes lit up like he had found a lifeline.
His voice was filled with regret.
"Lexie, I really know I was wrong. It was all because that woman, Madison, seduced me!"
Were all those women who looked like me seducing you too?
And why were you so easily seduced?
In the end, it just meant you never truly loved me.
"Lexie, I still love you. Please come back to me. I swear, if you come back, I’ll do anything for you!"
A player like him could come up with sweet lies effortlessly, and only a fool would believe them.
Hearing his words made me feel like I was going to vomit.
"Get lost. I don’t have time to listen to your disgusting nonsense."
Felix, still refusing to give up, lunged forward to kiss me.
Suddenly, a fist landed hard on his face.
He was knocked to the ground in one punch.
He really was weak.
For once, Chris lost his temper.
"Lexie told you to leave. Didn’t you hear?"
