"Say yes, quick! If you agree, the plot will completely change!"
I shook my head: "No, this isn't real change. He's still doing this because of Lily Smith."
"Come on, wouldn't it be better to just make it official?"
I punched it flying away: "No! You only care about completing your mission, but what I want is true love."
"Love-brain! Hmph!"
I had a big fight with the system. The moment it disappeared, my fist nearly connected with Ethan Shaw's face.
Time resumed.
"Don't you want to marry me?" He stared directly at me, as I apparently had been raging at thin air.
"At least... there should be mutual feelings," I answered softly.
"Like your brother and Lily Smith, right?"
His words suddenly hit me like a revelation.
If Lily liked Ethan, why would she agree to be with my brother?
The next day, our whole family had dinner together.
My brother and Lily wore matching pink outfits, exchanging flirtatious glances in public that gave me goosebumps all over.
My brother put down his wine glass and said seriously: "Mom and Dad are coming back next month. We need to figure out how to make them accept Lily."
I secretly glanced at the composed Lily beside him and deliberately said:
"Mom and Dad aren't idiots. They can spot who's sincere and who's got ulterior motives from a mile away."
My brother nodded and stuffed a piece of meat into his mouth:
"You're right, that puts my mind at ease."
"What are you so relaxed about?"
He looked up with a confident expression:
"Lily Smith genuinely loves me, of course!"
