Chapter 14

I abruptly turned to look at Ethan Shaw, who surprisingly maintained a perfectly calm face.

He noticed my gaze, picked up a napkin to wipe his mouth, and casually suggested: "Let's have a double wedding, what do you think?"

My brother and I nearly choked, exclaiming in unison:

"No way!"

Ethan Shaw didn't say anything more, showing no disappointment on his face, but instead revealed a subtle, enigmatic smile.

After dinner, I didn't go back with Ethan Shaw.

Watching my brother happily packing his things, I approached him and asked softly:

"If Mom and Dad ask about Lily's past... what are you planning to tell them?"

You should know, Lily had never voluntarily mentioned her past.

Out of respect, we had never specifically asked about it either.

But now the situation was different; the Feng family would never allow a woman of unknown origin to marry into their family.

"Do you know about it?" my brother asked me in return.

I shook my head.

Since arguing with the system, it hadn't spoken to me again.

I only vaguely knew that she had a difficult past.

Unless Lily spoke up herself, perhaps only Ethan Shaw knew her entire story.

"Actually, I know some things," my brother turned his head toward Lily who was watching TV in the distance.

"What do you know?" I hurriedly asked.

He looked at me, smiling faintly: "She's an orphan, her foster parents abused her, and she was always bullied at school."

"And then?"

I waited expectantly, hoping he would mention Ethan Shaw's connection.

But he just shrugged: "That's it. Lily Smith... is a real-life Cinderella."
