I lowered my head and played with the buttons on his shirt, my heart racing like crazy.
Ethan Shaw nodded, turned off the music, and his expression became as serious as if discussing a business deal:
"Like meeting the parents?"
"Exactly, and you need to show sincerity—the kind my brother could never pull off."
He agreed, and even mysteriously told me he had prepared a surprise, though he wouldn't reveal what it was.
I happily held his hand as we returned home.
When I pushed open the door, I saw my brother and Lily Smith enjoying a romantic moment together.
My brother lazily looked up: "Where have you been? Off with your girlfriend?"
Apparently, Lily hadn't told him that I had gone with Ethan Shaw.
The warm breeze from the window blew up my skirt, and Ethan Shaw, hiding outside the door, quietly reached out to gently pull it down.
My brother's eyesight was exceptionally sharp this time, immediately catching the reflection from a watch outside the door.
He abruptly let go of Lily, jumped up from the sofa, and stared intently at the door:
"Get your hands off! Who the hell are you? How dare you touch my sister's skirt?"
Ethan Shaw walked out, looking somewhat embarrassed. In that moment, he completely forgot all the lines we had rehearsed.
I quickly grabbed his arm and happily announced: "Brother, this is my boyfriend, Ethan Shaw of the Shaw family."
"The third son? Will he even get a share of the family inheritance?"
My brother's bluntness made me want to find a hole to crawl into.
I looked up at the silent Ethan Shaw, inwardly groaning that these two were complete opposites.
The air seemed to freeze.
While I was frantically thinking of ways to smooth things over, Ethan suddenly gripped my hand and spoke calmly:
"My eldest brother is in a vegetative state, the second is busy chasing skirts. I'm the one running the Shaw family now."
My brother was visibly stunned, his eyes showing he'd suddenly met his match.
After a moment of silence, he took out his phone:
"Look up Ethan Shaw for me. I want everything—the more dirt, the better."
"Don't bother," Ethan Shaw said with undeniable confidence. "The one who's been competing with you for the Pate project? That's me."
Was this the surprise he'd prepared?
