Lilith's POV

I woke up feeling warmth from the soft light which created a cozy glow that spread across the luxurious sheets I slept on.

As I lay there, many memories came flooding back into my mind, clear and almost overwhelming. I thought about Adams and me wrapped up together in a loving embrace, completely forgetting everything happening outside our little world.

My heart started to race as I remembered how he held me so closely, and I felt a rush of sweetness as I thought about our first time making love together. Even now, there was an ache of desire lingering within me with a reminder of the beautiful moments we had shared.

I reached my arm out and placed it across the wide space of the bed. My fingers lightly touched the smooth and cool sheets. I noticed that the side of the bed where Adams usually slept was completely empty.

'Adams?" I softly spoke with a slight touch of confusion evident in the way I said his name.

The atmosphere was filled with a tangible heavy silence. As that quietness enveloped me, I felt a pressure tightening in my chest while making me uneasy.

I could not help but wonder why he chose to leave so early. Did something happen? Was there a problem that I wasn't aware of?

I was resolutely committed to locating him, so I carefully swung my legs over the side of the bed. After that, I put on my robe to keep myself warm.

At that moment, a combination of worry and curiosity pulled at my feelings and instincts while driving me to want to know what was happening.

Stepping out of the room, I observed that the palace was very quiet. My footsteps were gentle against the shiny floor.

When I walked along the lengthy lobby, my heart rate became faster, making me anxious to find him. I just hoped he was safe.

I got to the study, and saw that the door was slightly open. I gently pushed it open wider and walked into the room. Once I was inside, I saw Adams sitting behind his desk, busy writing on a piece of parchment paper.

'Good morning, Your Highness," I said, smiling. My voice showed how happy and relieved I felt at that moment.

Adams paused his writing and lifted his eyes to look at me. As soon as we had eye contact, I felt an exciting bond between us like a tiny spark.

A smile started forming at the edges of his mouth and the aura of confidence that covered him was so strong that I wanted to stretch my hand and touch it.

'Lilith, you are awake. I hope you had a good sleep?" he said calmly. Then he stood up, and began to walk towards me. The way his shoulders swayed caught my admiration.

When he got to where I was standing, he curved his arms around my waist and drew me closely to himself. Then I placed my head on his chest and at that instant, every anxiety in my head faded away.

He pressed his lips over mine in a gentle way, and gave me a soft kiss. I responded immediately in a passionate style, taking his tongue deeper into my mouth. It was a sweet moment of warmth that made us both feel a deep sense of connection and belonging to each other.

'Today there is something different about you," I playfully remarked while leaning back a little to get a better look at his face. 'What is  going on?"

He let out a soft laugh and the sound flowed through the air like a warm and comforting song. With a smile on his face he said, 'I had an enchanting and wonderful night."

I let out a soft laugh and said, 'Oh really? Would you mind explaining that a little more?"

Adams had a playful smile on his face and his eyes sparkled with a sense of fun and joy as he replied, 'Let me just put it this way. I woke up this morning a lot stronger and more confident than usual."

I lifted one eyebrow, as if I did not really believe what he just uttered. 'I have the impression that the reason for that was because I did not disturb you with my snoring last night," I said.

'Absolutely that," he said with a laugh and the sound of his laughter filled the otherwise peaceful and quiet room, making it seem a little less calm.

There was a short moment of silence that surrounded us and during that time my playful mood started to disappear. Instead, it was replaced by a feeling of unease and concern.

I spoke up, and asked, 'Is it really alright for us to feel so at ease and relaxed right now? Just outside these walls there is so much chaos and disorder. It seems like the world is falling apart and unraveling, Adams."

His face changed a little, and I could see that he was becoming more serious.

He looked at me and said, 'I understand Lilith. However, I have a feeling that we might not have a lot of time left to really enjoy moments like this together. I truly want to take in and appreciate every single second I get to spend with you."

At the very moment he began to speak, a loud knock interrupted our conversation. 'Come in," Adams growled.

The door swung open and in walked Ronan. He looked a bit sorry, as if he felt he had interrupted something.

'Please forgive me for interrupting your privacy, Your Highnesses," Ronan said, while speaking quickly but in a respectful manner.

'The council members have come together just as you asked them to do yesterday. They are currently waiting for you to arrive."

I quickly looked back and forth between Adams and Ronan while feeling puzzled and a bit uncertain. I furrowed my brow in confusion and asked, 'What council are you talking about?"
