Adams turned his body straightening up so that he looked like a strong leader who was in control of the situation. He breathed in, then spoke in a clear manner, even though he sounded nervous.
'I called for a council of war," he said. 'The rogue king is on his way, and he is bringing his army right to our doorstep to our very own land."
I felt a frown pulling at the corners of my lips and I couldn't help but express my feelings. 'You decided to gather everyone for a council of war, and you didn't even think to tell me about it beforehand? Couldn't you have given me some kind of warning at all?" I said while trying to sound stern and upset.
I pretended to be upset more than I really was, because a part of me was actually not happy with the whole situation.
Adams let out a little laugh and there was a playful sparkle in his eye. He said, 'I didn't want to make you feel bored with all the little details, my dear."
'Bore me?" I couldn't stop myself from smiling. 'You are well aware that I have interests that go way beyond just nice-looking dresses and having tea parties with friends."
'Of course, I would be happy to have you help, but I was concerned that it might add extra stress or pressure on you."
'Alright, that's enough of the flattering and nice words," I said with a playful smile on my face which made both men laugh. 'We can put the meeting on hold for now. I have to prepare myself and get ready, so I can join you all."
Adams turned his gaze to Ronan and then shifted his attention back to me. I noticed that both of them were nodding their heads in agreement, and they had smiles that lingered on their faces, showing their approval.
After a moment, Adams spoke and said 'That sounds good. We will meet you in a little while."
I looked at him with a fun and teasing expression. 'You really need to make sure you are ready by the time I get there!"
"Certainly, my Queen, I will hold on for you," Adams said, with a playful glimmer in his eyes.
I went back to the room to take my bath, and my heart was still beating fast because of the different emotions in my head.
I was feeling the pressure of the upcoming argument, and at the same time, I still sensed the comforting and pleasant feelings that came from being with Adams.
After some time, I finally came out feeling good and ready to take on anything. Cara was getting my clothes ready. She was moving around quickly, making sure everything was just right as she assisted me with getting dressed and styling my hair.
'Are you feeling scared?" I asked gently as she carefully took the time to pin my hair up. As she worked, I noticed that the tension in my shoulders was beginning to relax a little bit.
'Absolutely not, Your Highness," Cara said with a serious expression as she spoke. 'But I really do believe in you and the Alpha King. I have complete confidence that the two of you will keep us safe. We all have faith in both of you and your ability to protect us."
Her words struck me hard. 'We will keep everyone safe Cara. We can't let fear control us."
After she completed styling my hair, she turned her attention to putting on a light touch of makeup. With a friendly smile, she looked at me through the mirror and said, 'You always know exactly what to say."
'I am doing my best," I answered while feeling a strong sense of determination growing inside me. 'It is really necessary that we rally around and assist ourselves now more than we have ever done."
When Cara was through performing her duties to me, I decided to take a look at myself in the mirror. I needed to gather my thoughts and create a calm appearance, which was very important for me at that time.
Then I put on my outfit, which was a beautiful gown that flowed gracefully. The gown was a deep shade of red, almost like a rich crimson color, and it really showed what was inside me, reflecting my vibrant spirit.
As I walked toward the room where the council meets, I kept telling myself my important words; strength, unity, and courage. I thought about how each of these ideas would help me face whatever challenges lay ahead.
When I finally opened the door to the room, I was met with a surprising sight. Key members of our pack were gathered together standing in front of a long table that stretched across the space.
The atmosphere was thick with tension, and it felt like the air was charged with an electric energy that was almost alive.
At the head of the table was Adams, and he looked exactly like what he was—a powerful Alpha King radiating authority and confidence.
As I walked into the room, everything became quiet. Everyone stopped what they were doing and all the eyes in the room turned to look at me, most with a hint of hostility in their gaze.
'Your Highness," they chorused tensely out of formality while the hostility lingered.
I walked over to Adams and when I got close to him, he smiled at me in a way that made me feel better and more at ease. His smile was comforting, and it helped me feel more secure at that moment.
I observed that lots of them were glaring at me questionably, which made me a little uncomfortable, remembering how they had treated me in the past- as a traitor and an ordinary Omega, but not minding that, I was sure to stand up straight and hold my head up high.
'I hope I did not arrive too late," I said in a light-hearted way, in a bid to add humor to my voice and make the atmosphere less tense and more relaxed.
Adams rose up, and it was not difficult to see how proud he felt. His face showed all the pride he was experiencing at that moment.
He turned his gaze toward me and spoke to me directly, saying 'My Queen, it is never too late for you to come to our aid. We are in great need of your wisdom and your strength right now."
'I would really like to listen to what you have to share with us, Adams," I encouraged, while focusing my attention on him as I spoke…
