Adams' POV

As I gradually opened my eyes from sleep, I decided to turn over and glance at the other part of the bed where Lilith was lying, and sleeping soundly.

The glowing moon was shining in through the window and casting a soft glow on her peaceful face. Even while asleep, her lips had a slight beautiful smile that amazed me at how pretty she was.

At that moment, my heart was full of a strong mix of pride and a desire to protect her. That special feeling inside me grew stronger as I admired her beauty.

The events from the day before kept playing in my mind over and over again like waves crashing on the shore without stopping. We had finally taken an important step in our relationship. It was a moment that made our bond truly strong and unbreakable.

As I think back on that wonderful experience, it feels like fate had revealed itself to us while linking our lives together in a special way. Even though I was happy, there was also a heaviness in my heart.

I could not help but feel the weight of the challenges and struggles that were still waiting for us in the future.

I lay completely still while lost in my thoughts about the heavy weight of my responsibilities. I held the title of Alpha King of the Bloodhound Pack and that title came with a lot of expectations and burdens.

The future ahead of me felt uncertain and unclear. 'What now?" I softly whispered into the quiet room where the only sound I could hear was the gentle and soothing breath of Lilith.

I gently moved my fingers along the edge of the bed while deciding to get up. My mind was already on the battle we had to face against Augustus. The feeling that I needed to act quickly made me swing my legs over the side of the bed.

When I finally stood up, a cold breeze touched my skin. It was a strong reminder of the difficult and harsh reality that was waiting for me outside the safe place we shared together.

I took my robe and wrapped it around my shoulders tightly. Then I walked out onto the balcony. The cool night air came rushing in while filling my lungs like a refreshing and soothing balm. I truly needed this moment for myself. It was a chance for me to collect my thoughts and take a deep breath.

I wanted to take in the vastness of the world that lay beyond the high walls of the palace. Everywhere was covered in darkness and I got comfort in that calm space away from the hustle and bustle of life.

'Adams?"

I was lost in my thoughts, unaware of anything around me, when suddenly, the voice broke through my peaceful state of mind.

I thought it was Lilith calling gently, but to my surprise, it was not her voice at all. Instead, it was Ted, my wolf calling out to me.

'It has finally happened, don't you agree?" he said in a low growling tone, but with a hint of laughter.

I sighed and leaned against the railing while using the opportunity to look at the large and beautiful landscape spread out before me.

'Please be quiet, Ted," I said while feeling a bit frustrated. 'It's still too early in the day for your dramatic antics."

I really could not understand why he did not seem to get it. 'Do you really understand the significance of what happened last evening? It's not only about who holds the power."

'You surely must have anticipated that this situation was going to arise, Adams. The connection that exists between you and Lilith—what you have done together—is not solely based on love. This union has greater significance because it plays an essential role in strengthening our standing against Augustus."

His voice was filled with a mix of pride and irritation. 'Listen, I understand that you have feelings for her, but it's crucial that you consider the bigger picture. Our opponents are not going to pause and wait for you to sort out your emotions."

'Of course I care for her!" I said quickly while feeling my grip tighten on the railing so much that my knuckles turned a pale shade of white.

'But do you honestly think that I would make such a huge and significant decision just to gain power?"

'Perhaps you aren't fully aware of it in your mind, but deep down at a very basic instinctual level, you realize that this is something very important and necessary."

'That is enough!" I said sharply, once more, interrupting him in the middle of his sentence. I needed to calm myself down, so I took a slow and deep breath to regain my composure.

'I will not treat Lilith simply as a tool to achieve my own goals. The connection we share goes far beyond something so shallow and one-sided."

'Come on, just be honest with yourself for a moment. You know that deep down you actually feel a sense of relief about the extra strength we are going to gain together. Trust me, you are really going to need that strength. It is very important for you to be fully prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead."

As he spoke, I noticed that his tone changed. It became much more serious, and it cut through all my thoughts while making me pay attention to what he was saying.

'What do you mean by ‘what'?" I asked, and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I was eager to understand.

Immediately, a surge of energy flowed through my whole body. It felt similar to flames that were starting to blaze underneath my skin. At first, it was thrilling and made me feel alive, but soon it changed into something more troubling.

The feeling became like a burning vine that wrapped itself tightly around my muscles and even deep into my bones, making it hard to ignore.

I turned to Ted, totally astonished and scared, and I said, 'Ted!" while trying to keep my teeth clenched against the discomfort. 'What is going on? What is happening to me?"

'Try to stay strong! It's very important that you focus on your center. Don't forget everything we have trained for together!"

Ted's voice became more urgent as I stumbled backward. My heart was racing quickly even though I was doing my best to keep my emotions under control.
