I returned to the study and picked up the asset evaluation report from the desk.
Thirty percent of Grant Corporation shares, distributed across several shell companies, all under my control.
In these three years of marriage to Ethan, I had indeed created quite the portfolio for myself.
Suddenly, Ethan's angry roar echoed from downstairs. I set down the report and listened carefully.
"Jade! Don't do anything stupid! Just tell me where the hell you are!"
The next second, the study door burst open. Ethan grabbed my wrist and dragged me out without hesitation.
"Iris, Jade is threatening to jump off a building because of you!"
I yanked my hand free, my voice ice-cold.
"Let go! You're giving her too much credit. If she really had the guts to jump, the police would be calling you right now, not her."
"You heartless—" Ethan's face flushed with anger. "I don't care! You're coming with me to that hotel right now! If anything happens to Jade, I swear to God—"
The wind howled across the rooftop. Jade stood barefoot on the edge, swaying dangerously.
She turned to see Ethan and me, tears instantly streaming down her face.
"Ethan! You came! If you hadn't, I would've jumped with our baby!"
"Jade!" Ethan's voice cracked with panic. "Don't do this! Whatever it is, come down first and we'll talk. I'll do whatever you want!"
"No!" Jade screamed, taking another small step toward the edge.
"I want you to choose—right here in front of Iris! Is it me or her?"
A troubled expression crossed Ethan's face, and he hesitated to answer.
Jade saw his hesitation and cried even harder.
"Ethan, did you listen to that woman and feel ashamed of me and our baby?"
Ethan's eyes blazed with rage as he turned on me.
"Iris! Do you want blood on your hands? Go apologize to Jade! Tell her everything you said was a lie! Now!"
I stood motionless, my face a mask, watching this pathetic drama unfold.
"Apologize? You want me—Mrs. Grant—to apologize to your mistress? Well, isn't that rich."
"Iris!" Ethan trembled with rage and shoved me toward Jade.
"I order you to apologize right now! Or I swear I'll—"
When Jade saw him manhandle me, satisfaction gleamed in her eyes. She suddenly lunged forward and shoved me toward the stairs.
"You bitch! Not only did you steal Ethan from me, now you want to kill me and my baby! You should be the one to die!"
