Chapter 7

The other guys started closing in.
“I told you, you’re not worth it.”
I reached into my bag and grabbed what I had hidden inside.
Brandon, furious, lunged at me, trying to grab my hand. I pulled out a stun gun and knocked him out in seconds.
The rest of them froze, looking at each other nervously.
Paul glanced at Brandon’s limp body and threw his phone aside, yelling, “Brandon! Get up! What are you guys waiting for? I didn’t pay you to just stand there!”
Even with the stun gun, I was still outnumbered.
However, I had backup.
Footsteps echoed at the entrance of the alley as several dark figures appeared. My bodyguards had arrived.
“Miss, sorry we’re late,” one of them said, nudging the unconscious thugs with his foot.
I crossed my arms and said coldly, “Take a thousand dollars off your pay.”
With Brandon and Paul lying on the ground, I took out my phone and snapped pictures of their pathetic state.
Then I sent the photos to their family group chats, work chats, and class groups.
Watching the chaos unfold in the chats, I couldn’t help but smile in satisfaction.
I sent one more message, and before long, a dozen burly men entered the alley. They exchanged knowing looks as they dragged Brandon and Paul deeper into the shadows.
Soon, strange noises came from the alley, and I let out a long breath, tossing my phone aside.
The anger that had been simmering inside me since my rebirth finally subsided. My hands shook with adrenaline.
I had finally avenged my past self.
For a long time after that, I didn’t see Brandon or Paul again.
But then Megan showed up at our house.
……
She wore heavy makeup and a cheap dress, kneeling on the ground and begging my dad.
“Chris, please don’t do this to me. I’m pregnant with your child!”
I finally noticed the small bump in her belly. She really did look pregnant.
My dad hesitated for a moment but didn’t pull his hand away. “Is it a boy or a girl?”
Megan rubbed her stomach, looking a bit nervous. “I’ve been craving salty foods, but we don’t know the gender yet.”
My dad’s expression changed. He got the hint.
There’s an old wives’ tale that craving salty foods means you’re having a boy, and sweets mean a girl. With just a few words, Megan had him wrapped around her finger.
He had no sons and desperately wanted a boy to carry on his legacy.
Not me, his daughter.
In the end, Megan stayed.
My dad gave her five million dollars to have the baby.
She agreed and moved back into our house to take care of her pregnancy.
He even went out and bought her maternity clothes.
Sitting comfortably, eating fruit handed to her by the staff, Megan shot me a smug look. “So what if you’ve been reborn, Lexie? Look at your dad. He’s still wrapped around my finger. I can make him do whatever I want.”
She crossed her legs and looked completely at ease.
I sat down across from her, meeting her gaze without flinching.
“What do you think my dad would do if he found out the baby isn’t his?”
......
Megan had insisted the baby was my dad’s, that the timing lined up perfectly.
But ever since my rebirth, I had been watching her closely. I knew the baby she was carrying was Paul’s.
Her face paled, and she was speechless.
Because she knew she couldn’t deny it.
I suddenly remembered that in my past life, my mom had also been pregnant. She craved sweets, and Megan kept hinting that my mom was definitely having a girl.
The more she talked, the deeper my dad’s frown grew.
