Chapter 5

“To celebrate my dad and Megan’s wedding, I’ve prepared a special video. I hope you both like it!”
My dad’s face lit up, and he clapped his hands. “That’s my thoughtful daughter!”
Megan let out a sigh of relief, still holding onto his arm and trying to keep her cool. “Thank you, Lexie. That’s very sweet of you.”
Everyone watched eagerly as I pressed play.
……
The screen came alive with footage of Megan and Paul wrapped up in each other, the sound of their kisses echoing through the room. Then, the video showed their messages, money transfers, and all the twisted plans they had been making, one after the other.
The room erupted with gasps and murmurs of disbelief.
When the video ended, I turned to Paul. “Megan, your lover is here at your wedding. Aren’t you going to introduce him to everyone?”
Megan’s face went as white as a sheet. She stumbled forward, trying to reach me, but my dad kicked her to the ground.
With everyone watching his humiliation unfold and Megan bringing her lover to their own wedding, my dad lost it.
He slapped Megan hard across the face, leaving her cheeks red and swollen. “You disgusting woman! How long were you planning to keep lying to me?”
Tears and snot streamed down Megan’s face as she clung to his leg, frantically pleading, “It’s not true! It’s not what it looks like! Please, you have to believe me!”
She shot me a hateful glare, her lips trembling as she whispered, “You… you came back too!”
I froze, stunned by the realization that Megan had also been reborn.
No wonder. No wonder she was so bold about meeting her lover this time around.
In our previous life, even after she and Paul had drained the house dry, my dad still had no idea he had been betrayed.
That was why she had been so reckless.
But she miscalculated.
Her eyes were bloodshot with rage, and I could tell she wanted nothing more than to tear me apart. But my dad, consumed with anger, kicked her again.
The guests were buzzing with shock and gossip. Seeing his mom being attacked, Brandon dropped the drumstick he was eating and charged up onto the stage.
He waved his arms wildly, shouting, “Who do you think you are, hitting my mom? You and your daughter are both trash! You should die!”
Megan, panicking, tried to hold him back. My dad, still furious, grabbed Brandon by the arm and threw him off the stage.
“You little punk! How dare you yell at me? Get out!”
He glared at Megan lying on the floor, then ripped the ring off her finger and tossed it aside.
“Megan, I can’t believe I was so wrong about you. You don’t deserve to wear the ring I designed!”
He took a deep breath, then said coldly, “Take your lover and get out!”
Megan tried to plead with him again, but the staff had already stripped her of her wedding dress and dragged her and Brandon out.
As for Paul, he didn’t even have the guts to step onto the stage. He slipped out the back door like the coward he was.
When things fell apart, even those closest to you scattered.
Megan’s family was kicked out of the wedding too.
The scene was complete chaos. I watched my dad’s furrowed brows and troubled expression, and I couldn’t help but smile in satisfaction.
Now, it’s your turn, Dad.
…
“Dad, don’t be upset. You just made a mistake this time, but I’m sure you’ll find someone better.”
I “kindly” reached out to massage his head.
His expression softened, and he looked a bit vulnerable.
“Sigh, I really messed up! Three years with her, and I had no idea she was still involved with that scumbag Paul. It’s disgusting!”
