I lounged on the sofa,watching.
"Noah,go back to school.Why're you here?"
"...To care for you."
His voice,through the kitchen's running water,sounded a bit blurry.
I didn't catch it,saying,"I'm getting rid of this child."
The water stopped.
Noah was silent,emerging later with a cup of warm water in hand.
"Okay,your call."
His smile held faint melancholy.
My heart raced inexplicably.I opened my mouth,but loud knocking interrupted me.
Frowning,I heard Ethan's voice.
"Lily,open the door."
Noah's smile vanished,his face darkening.
"What's he doing here?"
Dangerous menace flashed across his eyes.
I recalled Ethan's words:"My nephew's a total lunatic!"
As Noah rolled up a sleeve neatly,I grabbed his arm.
"Noah!"
"Calm down!This is between me and him—I'll handle it."
He glanced at my arm—scratches.
"What if he hurts you?"
I wore long sleeves today.How'd he notice?
No time to think.The door beeped,"Unlock failed."
Two maniacs.
I nearly exploded on site,shoving Noah toward a room.
"This is my business—nothing to do with you!"
Noah's muscles tensed,the look in his eyes deep as a abyss.
Alarm yelling danger went off in my head.
He smiled.
"None of my business."
"Fine."
As he shut the bedroom door,the lock chimed,"Unlock successful."
Ethan burst in,pinning my wrists above my head.
The unhealed cut still stung.My voice was shaky becaused of pain.
"Ethan,are you insane?"
His gaze traced from my lips downward,hand resting on my stomach.
"Lily,you're pregnant.Why didn't you tell me?"
I couldn't avoid his touch."Tell you?We're done.Staying out of each other's way is best."
His face darkened,but he kept on talking.
"I didn't agree to break up.You're mine forever."
I nearly laughed.
"Psycho!"
"You treat me like a toy to summon or dismiss at your wish.I'm supposed to worship you forever?"
"The drinks you gave me at that breakup party—what'd you spike them with?What was your plan?"
"All those women—is there any one of them you didn’t sleep with?"
"I never asked before,doesn't mean I'm an idiot."
Ethan's head lowered,I could feel his breath at my collarbone.
For the first time,I felt not irritation,but helplessness from him.
My voice softened."Ethan,you love novelty and freedom.Go find it."
"Love Chloe Parker?Be with her.Don't waste my time."
At her name,his grip loosened.Just as I thought I could break free,he pulled me into his arms.
Struggling,I said,"The drugs...I wanted to keep you."
"But when I came back,you were already gone!"
"I thought...you didn't want to see me."
Ignoring all the side effects the drugs might’ve brought me,he only considered his feelings.
If I hadn't met Noah that night...
"Lily,if I say I only want you."
"Even if you’ll control me and cage me forever,I only want you."
"Will you trust me again?"
