My best friend Wendy Hart,an insurance executive, she warned me that wealthy women like me,with no parents, were prime targets for scams like murder for insurance.
She insisted I install pinhole cameras everywhere except private spaces, just in case.
At that time, I thought these cameras were a bit redundant, but I never expected that they would really come in handy!

The phone screen replayed the crash—
Sophie, knowing a flood loomed and a truck carrying steel rods was nearby, viciously grabbed the wheel.
Then,as rods pierced me,she laughed:”Jenna, who do you think Lucas would save?I bet it’s me!”
Sophie was a skilled actress, always playing the innocent, gentle soul before Lucas.
When he saw her ferocious look as she tried to harm me, he was stunned.
Seeing this, I thought he would apologize to me and feel guilty and regretful.

But after a pause,he said:”Sophie was wrong,but she’s hurt,unwell.She can’t go to jail.”
Sophie’s discomfort meant she couldn’t face justice.
I was pierced by steel bars and had a narrow escape from death. My body still hasn’t fully recovered. When he said I should go to jail, why didn’t he show any concern for my physical condition?
I was so angry that my voice was trembling, “With just one word from you, you want to let Sophie go un punished? Lucas, who do you think you are?”

He became angry out of embarrassment. “She managed to get out of the mountain village with great difficulty. Do you really have to ruin her?”
Without thinking,he threw my phone out the window into the river:”Jenna,I destroyed the evidence. You won’t send Sophie to jail!”
When I saw this scene, I was extremely disappointed.
No matter Sophie’s wrongs,he stood by her.
I sneered. “But I’ve already given the evidence to the police. Do you really think this is the only copy of the video I have?”
His face paled, more panicked than at my crash site.
He cursed me,ignoring me,storming off, calling to bribe someone with a$200,000 purse for Sophie.
I wasn’t generous enough to let him use my money for his mistress.
As he left,I called the bank, freezing my secondary card.
An hour later,Lucas bombarded me with calls.I blocked him and drove home.
Sophie’s things cluttered the house,an eyesore.
I hired movers to toss out her and Lucas’s belongings, then listed the house for sale.
When Lucas arrived, movers were dumping their stuff.
He was so angry that his face turned red.
In the past, he would definitely scold me as soon as he opened his mouth.
But this time, he forcibly held back.
Uncharacteristically gentle,he said:”Jenna, your card’s broken.Let me use your main one.”
“It’s not broken.I canceled it.”
“Why cancel it? Hurry up and call the bank and ask them to unfreeze it. I’m in urgent need of money!”
I sneered. “You use your wife’s money to support your mistress and want to use the money of the victim to save the murderer...…Lucas,have you no shame?”
He frowned, defiant:”You always flaunted your wealth, humiliating Sophie under the guise of help. That’s why she hated and retaliated. You don’t know how condescending you were, giving her tuition and clothes, making her feel inferior…Even if she’s at fault, the root cause lies with you!”
