When I arrived at the company,it was already nightfall.
The bright moon in the sky was covered by dark clouds,completely obscured.But the sweltering heat of the midsummer added to my irritability.
I parked my scooter in front of the food delivery company,angrily picked up the box,and rushed into the company.
"Damn it,I'm quitting.I almost lost my life.If I keep doing this,I'll just be waiting for someone to collect my body."
I threw the food delivery box and the hat on the company's desk and cursed as I took off my uniform and threw it at the HR staff.
The HR staff gave me a look and looked at me like I was an idiot.Then he asked coldly,"What's wrong with you?You just started working a few days ago,and today you're here to resign.Are you out of your mind?"

The door was suddenly pushed open by a young man.He looked indignant and seemed to want to tear me apart.Then he pointed at me and cursed,"I rent a house in District C.Although District C looks shabby,there are still many old neighbors,uncles,and aunts living there.Are you new to the night shift?Is your head still not clear?!"
The young man was about to continue scolding me,but at this moment,I was even more confused...
Now I felt like I was in a fog.Today,both the boss and the middle-aged man repeatedly told me that District C had been abandoned for a long time and was even a place where some people returned after death.
But until now,this young man in front of me had been babbling on and on,saying that there were many old people living in District C,which made me even more confused.

The young man saw me standing there in a daze and also suspected that I was crazy.After cursing,he was about to turn around and leave.

On the way,I listened to the young man chatting,saying that there were indeed people living in District C.It was just that most of the residents were elderly.The old people would go out to buy groceries early in the morning,and in the evening,some old people would come out for a walk and do square dancing...
However,due to the electrical circuit problems and the old people going to bed early,most of the lights would be turned off after 10 o'clock in the evening.So,in the middle of the night in District C,except for young people like them who were poor,few people would come out and move around.
This might be the reason why District C looked gloomy and strange,like a ghostly area.
I gradually soothed my heart.As the outline of District C became more and more distinct,the streetlights didn't flicker at all.
When we arrived at District C,we found that there were a few old people walking their birds and chatting casually on the street.
We could even hear the noisy sound of square dancing in the distance.When I gradually got closer to District C,I even saw two old people playing chess.

The young man greeted the white-haired old man as if it were a daily routine.

From time to time,other old people would walk by,watching the birds and the chess game.It was a bustling scene with bright lights.

This wasn't a ghostly area at all.It seemed that I had worried too much.It was just an old urban area!
I seemed to smile with a sense of luck and gave the last half pack of cigarettes to the young man who had brought me here.
