"I warned you before. Jade did spend the night with a male model at a hotel last month."
Ethan looked up, his eyes bloodshot from exhaustion. "You knew the truth all along?"
"At first I was just speculating. Then I got concrete evidence," I said flatly.
"But compared to me, you seemed more willing to believe Jade's crocodile tears."
Ethan stood there, struggling to form words.
"So she's been... lying to me all along..."
I nodded. "Jade just needed someone to dump her problems on. And you, the gullible fool, took the bait."
Ethan smiled bitterly. "I really am a damn fool."
"Indeed," I agreed mercilessly, "but fortunately, it's not too late for you to wake up."
Ethan looked at me, his expression complex. "So you planned all this from the beginning?"
I admitted frankly, "I just make a habit of covering all my bases. Marriage can be a transaction, but it shouldn't be a con job."
Ethan remained silent for a long time before finally saying softly, "I'm sorry."
I was momentarily taken aback before quickly regaining my composure. "No need to apologize. We were just using each other for our own purposes."
Ethan shook his head, seeming to want to say more, but ultimately just turned and left the room.
I gently stroked the share transfer agreement. With this additional 5%, my stake in Grant Corporation had reached 35%, making me the undisputed largest shareholder.
Actually, that day on the rooftop, I had already seen the murderous intent in Jade's eyes. I could have dodged, but I chose to take the fall.
A calculated risk—in exchange for 5% of the shares and Ethan completely giving up on Jade—it was worth it.
The hospital room door opened, and my lawyer walked in.
I handed him the share transfer agreement. "Process this transfer immediately."
"Understood." The lawyer tucked it away, then produced a new document.
"This is the first draft of the divorce agreement. Would you like to review it now?"
I shook my head. "Not yet."
"If I divorce now, I can only take half the assets. When Ethan completely loses his value, I'll control the entire Grant empire."
Ethan thought I only wanted the shares, but he was wrong.
What I want is to hold the entire Grant dynasty in the palm of my hand.
