Chapter 2

With my memories gone, everything I knew about Dominic came secondhand from Lillian.

Charismatic and commanding, he'd dominated London's social scene.

A werewolf. An Alpha.

Heir to the Grey Pack.

Though his temper wasn't great and he occasionally fought with other werewolves, his looks and Alpha status made him irresistible to women.

And.

I had been particularly fond of him.

At this point, Lillian couldn't help but nudge me. "Honestly, I really thought you two would make it."

"Was I in a relationship that young?"

"Well, not exactly. You two never completed the Mating ceremony, but you were close. Everyone knew."

Lillian hesitated before adding, "He was your Fated Mate. The real deal. Werewolves only get one in their entire lifetime."

I hummed noncommittally. "What happened next?"

"Then you two fought. His father forced him back to Scotland to take over the Pack. He left without a word, and you two were done."

Despite the drama in her voice, I felt absolutely nothing.

Noticing my blank expression, Lillian pressed, "Don't you want to know what you fought about?"

"Why did we?" I followed her lead.

"No idea," she admitted bluntly. "You never shared that part."

I stared at her, speechless.

If Lillian's story was accurate, then Dominic and I were basically ex-fiancés.

Though I didn't know the proper way to treat an ex-Mate, it certainly wasn't this.

Still, I drove back to Ashford Manor alone, leaving him at the house with instructions for Mrs. Hudson to make him comfortable.
