"He did this to you?"
I gasp, anger simmering inside of me as I examine Bran's bruised face
"Baby it's fine really."
I narrow my eyes touching at the corner of his lip,he grunts in pain
"I'm going to kill him."
He chuckles and I look up
"No you did not." I glare at him
"I deserved it."
"Stop saying that,you didn't."
"But I did." He pulls me into his body
"I stole you,I'd kill someone who would even attempt to steal you from me. So you see? The guy is just okay better than I even,I'd kill the fucker."
"Brandon." I gasp "don't encourage assault and murder."
I continue applying some ointment on his bruises
"I should have slept here."
"Yeah you should have. I didn't have desert last night."
"Stop it." I look at him under my eyelashes,my cheeks suddenly growing hot.
"I'm still killing him." I mummer
"I thought you said not to encourage murder."
"I'll make an exception for you."
He smiles and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear.
"I love It when you're so possessive over me." He leans down and we kiss.
"Mother?" I lick my lips nervously.
"Yes honey?" She turns to face me
I really want mum to accept Brandon,she kind of saw him in a different light when he saved my life by risking his without a single bat of the eye.
I didn't tell her about Ronan of course, when I'm ready I will,besides,I forgave him and the last thing I want is her to hate him. She has the right to know yes,but I know that she hates liars and manipulators because they remind her of dad.
She loathes them. So no, maybe in a few years I definitely will. She knows he cheated but the rest not really.
"Is it okay if..if Bran joins us for dinner?"
She observes me for long seconds,which make me more nervous.
"Of course honey,why not?"
My eyes widen. Mum has been having a hard time accepting Bran, Killian loved him the first day they met, he bought his tons of video games and plays with him every Friday afternoon. So mum saying yes is kind of a big deal to both Bran and I.
"Really?"
"Yeah, besides, he's starting to convince me that he's a good guy,
He's definitely rubbing off on me.
I shouldn't have judged him like that."
She steps closer and holds my hand
"I can see he loves you,he'd do anything to make you happy and that's the only thing I ask for."
"Thanks mom." My eyes water
"Bring him over, I'd like to meet him properly and get to know him better."
She smiles and I hug her tight
When Brandon told me Ronan was just venting out his anger,which was why he didn't fight him, I was shocked to learn that he backed off because of the love he has for me,that he wants me to be happy.
Bran's sentence didn't sound right though so I literally had to force him to fill the blank and he nearly growled the words "he loves you."
I had to wait this long to confront Ronan, I mean he hurt my Bran and no matter the reason,I won't hesitate releasing my wrath on the person who causes him harm,which is why I had to wait for my heart to cool down because I didn't trust myself not to claw his eyes out.
I go to the place I know without a doubt he's at.
Ronan's back is to me,his legs are dipped in the steam rising water. Brandon would kill me if he knew I went here.
I remove my shoes and sit next to him,dipping my legs in the water.
We stay silent for long minutes.
"Hi." I whisper
"Hi." He whispers back
"You know..I must admit I did miss this place"
"I know you did."
I turn my head and find him watching me
"Bran told me what happened."
"Yeah. I fucked him up real good."
He smiles
"I'm sorry." I whisper, getting emotional all of the sudden
"For what?"
"For hurting you,I didn't mean to." I blink the forming tears away
"Hey.." he places his hand on top of mine "I'm the one who's sorry,I'm sorry for letting you down and betraying your trust constantly."
"Ron.."
"No. No Kim,you are the best thing that's ever happened to me,I love you to the point I'd rather rip out my heart than hurt you again."
"Oh Ron."
I place my hand on his cheek, he turns his head and kisses my open palm.
"I'll always treasure the moments I shared with you,I'll always care about you and I'll never forget that you brought me happiness." I say to him
His eyes shine with relief and so much love
"I hope you can forgive me for letting you down."
Tears slip down my cheeks and I shake my head
"I already forgave you. Thank you for bringing the old Ronan back."
I smile through tears and then we hug.
On our way out of the forest he takes two pictures out of his pocket and hands them to me
"What's this?" I look at him and he doesn't answer
There are two pictures of a girl and a boy. In one they're hugging and in the other they stare into each other's eyes with so much love. On the corners are names
Claire and Alex
I smile lifting my head to look at Ronan
"They remind me of us back then, I'm going to put a picture and location of the place. They can make it their special place."
"What if they think it's a serial killer. I mean it's a forest first."
"Right,I didn't think about that."
He rubs the back of his neck
"Well maybe you and Brandon can bring them here,you're trustworthy everyone knows that."
"No. No Ron,maybe we can bring them, you and I."
"No. Kim," he steps closer putting a hand on my cheek "it's enough that you said goodbye to the place with me,I can't come here again. I want you and Brandon to do it."
Tears roll down my cheeks and I sniff
"I'll just come with Sam instead."
"That's fine too."
I hug him and he hugs me back
I finally have my best friend back even if things will never be the same,it still counts that he's my old Ronan.
"How did you know where to find me?"
I come to a halt when I find Brandon leaning against his car. I came here with an Uber,I didn't want to bring my car because it would have gotten me caught. But what do ya know? He found out.
"I knew you were up to something."
He starts moving towards me. He stands in front of me and pulls me closer by my nape.
"I'll always find you." He bites my lower lip.
His eyes move behind me and I turn to find Ronan watching us. He starts moving to his bike and I rush in his direction, Bran grabs my wrist to stop me
"Trust me." I whisper,
he lets go after long silent seconds
"Ronan." He turns to face me
"Keep in touch okay?" I rub his arm
He nods and smiles,then he gets on his bike and speeds off.
I get inside Bran's car and he drives off. He's awfully quiet it's making me nervous
We arrive at his home and enter his room. He removes his shirt and only remains with jeans.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah."
"Are you sure? You've suddenly gone quite."
He pulls me by my fingers and sits me on his lap.
"I want to show you something" he reaches for a clean shirt
"What is it?"
We go downstairs and find every one of our friends there.
"What's going on?"
I look around.
Sam smiles at me, why's she so giddy?
She signs me to turn around,I frown and slowly turn.
My breath hitches when I find Bran on his knee
"What are you doing?" My voice gets caught in my throat
"Baby." He reaches for my hand and I take one step closer
"You make me a better person, no fuck that. I'm only a better person for you." Everyone laughs
"I'm giving you this promise ring, I promise that I'll love you and only you and I'd rather poke my eyes out than look at another woman in that way. that one day, it'll be a ring to make you my wife. I'd die for you without blinking,fight and slay your demons for you.
He kisses my hand
"I won't let anybody hurt you, and my deepest wish is that you never stop loving me, and God protect whichever fucker who tries to take your love away from me. I'll kill him."
He makes a show of narrowing his eyes into space. Which makes everyone laugh again
"Get it over with." Xander shouts
"Point is,I love you and I want everyone to know that you're mine."
I nod with a smile and tears flowing down my cheeks.
He slips the ring on my finger and stands and then we kiss.
"I'll get you a ring too." I sniff and we kiss again
I'm his and he's mine, fate sealed that the moment our eyes clashed in that school cafeteria. Forever and Always.
