Chapter 9

I wanted to see if Trevor would go ahead and sleep with her right in front of me.
The car glided slowly through the streets, soon arriving at Dusky. The vast space inside was thick with the scent of alcohol and the unmistakable odor of hormones, a place rife with decadence and moral decay.
I stood at the door to the private room, watching silently.
Cassidy had already discarded the thin veil she'd worn, revealing the black lingerie beneath. She was straddling Bruce, accepting his kisses.
Trevor had undone a few buttons on his shirt, his eyes slightly glazed with drunkenness, yet he stared at the two people kissing across from him, his gaze heavy.
The kiss ended, and Cassidy slumped in Bruce's arms. The room erupted in laughter.
"Well done! Cassidy has accepted her defeat like a sport!" one of the men cheered.
"Alright, let's go for the next round!"
They were playing dice. If Cassidy won, she could take the money from the table. If she lost, she had to perform some intimate act with the person across from her.
She had won once, but lost twice.
Now it was her turn to roll the dice against Trevor.
Cassidy shook the cup, her eyes full of seductive mischief as she looked at him. "Trevor, do you want to win, or do you not?"
Trevor didn't answer directly, his voice a low murmur. "Cassidy, just roll the dice."
Cassidy slowly lifted the cup. "Looks like I've lost again."
The others couldn't wait for her to strip, urging her on, "Take it off, take it off!"
"That's right, Cassidy, no backing out now."
Cassidy turned her gaze to Trevor, a sly smile curving her lips as she reached behind her to unfasten her back clasp. With a simple touch, her full chest would be exposed to everyone in the room.
At that moment, I realized my heart wasn't as unmoved as I had thought.
I knew what would happen next, but I still didn't have the courage to face it.
I turned and walked away.
But as I rounded the corner, I unexpectedly bumped into Trevor's nemesis, Kent Carter.
In Oakhaven City, Kent's power was on par with Trevor's. However, while Trevor was distant and aloof, Kent was a smiling tiger, a man who, if you crossed him, you wouldn't know how you ended up dead.
The lights in the corridor flickered on and off, and the face of the refined, scholarly man was illuminated with a hint of excitement that no one could detect.
Kent adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and smiled faintly. "Trevor is in there, isn't he? Why aren't you going in?"
Great. I'd already guessed that Kent was here to stir trouble.
But as I looked at his face—handsome, just like Trevor's—an evil thought began to take root in my mind.
I moved closer, my breath brushing against his ear like a fragrant whisper. "Trevor is drunk. Would you care to taste the flavor of a married woman?"
His lips still held that shallow smile, but his eyes were more than intrigued. "I never imagined the gentle, elegant Mrs. Mia Farren could be so wild behind closed doors. Tonight, you've really opened my eyes."
Though he said this, he showed no resistance at all.
I leaned in closer, blowing gently in his ear. "I have even wilder things to show you, Kent. Want to see?"
Kent's expression grew more playful. "Mia, what exactly are you trying to do?"
What was I trying to do?
I was trying to make my dear husband, Trevor, a cuckold.
I wonder what his face would look like when he found out that his gentle, obedient wife was in bed with another man.
That should be interesting.
The faint scent of alcohol in the air was making my head spin. At this moment, all I wanted was to take my revenge on Trevor.
I looked at him and flashed a gentle smile. "Kent, do you want to see your influence in Oakhaven City grow?"
I couldn't help but laugh inwardly.
What if I bring Trevor down to nothing, turn him into a penniless fool? Cassidy, would you still want him?
Not only that, I would crush both of them under my feet, forcing them to live under my control in a life far worse than death.
Kent's hands were now rubbing my waist, his voice low and seductive. "Mia, you are truly fascinating. I'm glad my trip to Dusky wasn't a complete waste."
He led me out of Dusky and into a car, taking me to one of his villas.
The car came to a halt. Kent's eyes, peering through his glasses, looked at me with a probing intensity. "Mia, are you sure you've thought this through?"
I moved closer, took off his gold-rimmed glasses, and kissed him on the lips.
