A flash flood broke out. I got into a car accident on the road at the foot of the mountain. I was impaled by five steel bars, bleeding profusely, and my life was hanging in the balance.
My husband rushed over in a hurry, but he picked up the junior schoolmate in the passenger seat and left, not even giving me a single glance.
I went in and out of the ICU three times. He never visited, fixated on his mildly concussed junior.

I had been deceiving myself for nearly a decade, and I no longer wanted to be a fool.
After being discharged from the hospital, I immediately filed for divorce from Lucas Moore.
Having survived by a stroke of luck, I didn’t want to stay with a husband who didn’t love me anymore.

“Jenna, if we both got into a car accident at the same time, who do you think Senior would save? I bet it must be me!”
As five steel rods pierced my body,Sophie Lane,in the passenger seat, withdrew her hand from grabbing the steering wheel, sneering:”Hold on a bit longer. If you die too quick,it’s no fun!”

Heavy rain had flooded the roads.
A sudden flood burst out from the mountain ahead, causing chaos among the crowd. I was concentrating on driving and didn’t notice Sophie at all.
I never imagined the struggling student I’d sponsored harbored such malice toward me!
I glared at Sophie angrily, but she completely ignored me. Instead, she just picked up her phone and called Lucas asking him to come and save her.

Lucas’s car was right behind us, not too far away.
Upon receiving the call, he rushed over in a hurry, getting drenched in the rain.
We had been in love for ten years and married for seven. He usually spent all his time in the laboratory, and even in his spare time, he was with Sophie.
I had once thought that he had fallen out of love with me. I had even quarreled with him many times because of this and felt disappointed and resentful.
But seeing my injuries, his face betrayed panic and concern.
“Jenna,don’t be scared.I’m here!”
His voice came through the broken window, mingling with the pattering sound of the rain, making my heart pound with fear.
The smell of gasoline in the car was getting stronger and stronger. I didn’t know when it would explode.
The suddenly erupted flash flood might even pass through this road at the foot of the mountain.
I wanted to tell him to leave me and run for his life.
But before I could,Sophie wailed:”Lucas,my head hurts.I’m so scared!”
“Jenna,Sophie’s condition seems worse.Hold on.I’ll save her first,then come for you.Don’t worry!”
Lucas reassured me,then ran to the passenger side, carrying Sophie away.
I couldn’t recall how many times he’d chosen her over me.
But I was his wife!
I wanted to call out his name, but when I opened my mouth, my throat was blocked by blood. My internal organs ached as if they were about to burst at that moment, and I was overwhelmed by an all-consuming sense of despair.
My vision turned into a blood mist. I couldn’t see clearly, nor could I move.
I thought I was going to die, but several firefighters risked their lives to save me and sent me to the hospital.
I woke, facing two more emergency surgeries.
Firefighters and the hospital tried contacting Lucas, but he insisted on staying with his injured junior.
The firefighters even covered my medical bills.
Several of my internal organs were bleeding, and I got infected after being in the rain. The hospital urgently called in several specialists for a consultation.
Before entering the ICU,I called Lucas:”I just got out of surgery, heading to the ICU.Come to the hospital, pay the bills, and reimburse the firefighters.”
I was barely hanging on to my life at that moment, and making this call to him had exhausted all my strength.
But Lucas said,“Since you can call me now, it means you’re not in a critical condition, and there’s no need for me to go to the hospital. Yanyan doesn’t feel well. She even has nightmares when she’s asleep. I have to stay with her.”
When he was doing experiments, he had to stay with her.
When she was in a bad mood, he had to stay with her.
When it was her birthday, he had to stay with her...
Now that I was on the verge of death, he still had to stay with her!
I was done with his bias—
“Lucas, five steel rods pierced me.I nearly died.Sophie doesn’t have a scratch—you saw it!Don’t you know who’s worse off?Don’t you know she grabbed the wheel, causing the crash?”
