A group of strangers lifted me onto an ambulance. The hospital was noisy and crowded. They wheeled me straight into the operating room.
A long needle pierced into my spine. My mind started drifting away — but I never lost consciousness. The doctor strapped me to the operating table. The light above was blinding. Someone tugged hard at my belly — but I felt no pain at all .
Then I heard the cry of a baby. And I finally realized what was happening.
"Did I give birth to a baby?"
The doctor in green gently tucked the blanket around me.
"Yes, you had a chubby little boy."
I was terrified! I was still in school! How could I have a child! I would be expelled from school! My parents would kill me!
I broke down crying. My whole body trembled uncontrollably.
I felt as if I was drifting — like a tiny boat rocking in a storm. It was awful. When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in a hospital bed. A few strangers stood around me.
A handsome man smiled at me.
"Bella, you’re awake."
So my name was Bella. I was probably sick and might have amnesia. Maybe I’d lost my memory.
These people… were they, my family? "What's wrong with me? I can't remember anything."
The man reached over, gently brushing the messy strands from my forehead.
"It's okay. We'll figure it out later."
I looked at him, "Who are you?"
He took my hand, wrote something in my palm, and said , "Ethan."
The name was so familiar as if I had heard it somewhere before.
I glanced down at my wristband on my arm: "Bella Miller,29 years old."
I blinked at him, confused. : "Aren't I thirteen?"
A flicker of emotion lit up Ethan’s face — something like hope, or heartbreak.
"You're mistaken."
I didn’t believe him. I asked for a mirror. The woman in the reflection… was clearly in her twenties!
"So I'm actually twenty-nine."
I lifted the blanket and looked down at myself.
"Did I really have a baby?"
The people around me smiled brightly. "Yes, you’re amazing. You had a healthy baby."
