And my mood sure as hell didn't lighten up at the smug expression of Mark whose back was leaning against the headboard, mirth swirling in his eyes through his glasses as a thick book was present in his hand.

Since when does this bastard wear glasses?

I groaned discontentedly, feeling the fraction of the soft woolen carpet against my dragging feet as I trudged towards the bed. I went under the duvet that was heated up by Mark's body. I made sure to lay as far as possible away from him, my body almost falling over the side of the bed and my back turned to him. I pulled the duvet away from Mark, shrouding myself completely in it.

I could hear him trying to suppress his laughter as the bed started to shake from his quivering body. "You're so adorable." He cooed and the next thing I heard was the squeaking sound of the moving bed and I could feel the bed dip under his weight as he puts away his glasses and book aside on the lampstand.

I squeezed my eyes shut, clutching the duvet close to me as I brought my knees to my chest. Telling myself to hurry up and fall asleep, but the ear deafening sound of my heart didn't make that easy.

A screech was ripped from my mouth when two bare arms wrapped themselves around me enclosing me against Mark's bare chest. "What-!" I squeaked as I felt the blush creeping up on my face.

Mark clicked with is tongue disapprovingly, bringing his mouth closely to my ear. "It's time for you to learn that you always have to sleep in my arms." He purred lowly.

"Pillow-Pillow is softer and better to lay on." I sputtered.

Mark swiftly threw the pillow that my head was laying on across the room. "Now my arms are softer and better to lay your pretty head on." I shifted in his arms, craning my head around to shoot him a disapproving glare.

He gave me a wide-spread smile and stretched out his arm beneath my head. "A custom-made pillow. You can't find a better quality than this."

I darted my eyes towards to pillow that was now lying on the floor across the room before glancing back at the mirth filled eyes.

'I am too lazy to stand up to get the pillow and there's no way that his steel arm will budge anyway. Do I even have the energy to banter with him right now?'

I studied Mark for a second and let out a resigning sigh. "We will see if they are indeed high quality." I grumbled in defeat, fluttering my eyes shut as my head rested on the huge muscle mass.

Mark radiated a beaming smile that reached his eyes as he pulled the duvet to my chin; tucking me in securely before he wrapped his arm around me. Placing a soft kiss on the top my head he lets out a pleased sigh as he pulled me closer until my head laid on his sturdy chest. "Goodnight kitten, I love you." He whispered, his voice coated in his own share of fatigue and affection before closing his eyes.

My heart started to beat irregularly making it impossible for me to fall asleep. I was shocked at how fast asleep he was. I glanced up from beneath my eyelashes. His breathing came out even, matching his chest that was slowly heaving up and down. He had a content expression, an innocent smile locked in place. Every so often my name could be heard from his husky sleepy voice, managing to create butterflies in the pit of my stomach.

Normally I would find it difficult to fall asleep as the nightmares of my past haunts me even in my dreams. But Mark's scent that smelled like pinewood tree embalmed me like quilt, his heartbeat was like soft rhythmical lullaby and the warmth that his bare skin exerted soothed my mind pushing me even further in to the deep nothingness.

  …

Shivering as I felt the cold room air grazing my skin, I reached out my arm in search for my heated humanoid water bottle, but to my surprise my hand only ended up caressing the cold fabric of the white bed sheet.

Squint-eyed I craned my head and propped myself up on the bed. Rubbing the sleepiness away from my crusty eyes I glanced groggily around the room in wonder where the heck Mark disappeared to.

  "Ah your awake."

I jolted in surprise at the sudden voice that materialized out of thin air. With my sight still hazy I tried again to search for mark. "Mark?" I called with my croaking voice.

"Good morning, beautiful. Breakfast is on the nightstand and after your done eating there's someone that I have to introduce you to." My head craned towards the sound of the unhurried voice. I narrowed my eyes at the small machinery that placed next to the breakfast on the nightstand.

'You've got to be kidding me…' I groaned inwardly.

"Are you seriously watching me through a damn baby monitor?" I asked incredulously.

A low chuckle could be heard from the other side of the static sounding monitor. "You can never be too careful when it comes to you. Now stand your fine-ass up and get ready unless you want to be late for work."

I shook my head in disbelieve and stretched out my arms, letting a yawn escape from my mouth.

After eating the breakfast that Mark made for me, I freshened myself up in the bathroom before descending down the stairs in my work attire with my hands holding up my hair.

"Mark where is my hair tie…?" my voice trailed off; my face overwritten by confusion when I saw the secretary of Mark standing at the front door with a benign smile on his face. Nodding respectfully at me I caught the slight amusement in his eyes that matched his chocolate dyed hair.

Mark's arm made its way around my waist and pulled me against his side as he placed a chaste kiss on my forehead. "You've already seen him before, but let me formally introduce you two since you guys will be seeing each other frequently from now on. This is Snake my secretary who also does different jobs for me."

Snake reached out his hand out for me to shake, but Mark quickly swatted it away, glaring at the secretary warningly. "I allow you to look at her, but don't fucking touch her if you want to keep your hand." He said in a low threatening voice. Unfaced by Mark's threat the secretary's benign smile didn't flatter and he only puts up his hands in defense innocently.

"Wait" I said, pulling their attention back to me. The wheels in my head stopped working as they registered the secretary's name. "Snake? You mean the same Snake you told me about last night?"

They both blinked at me confused before Mark lets out a contagious laugh that sounded more like an evil cackle than an expression of amusement.

The Secretary's benign smile was replaced by a frown as if he knew what I was talking about and said "No." Firmly.

"S-Sorry that was my mistake." Mark who was still laughing crossed his arms over his stomach, in an attempt to catch his breath. "Let's try this again," He cleared his throat and gestured towards his secretary. "This is Snake Daniel Christopher a killer that works for me. The person that I talked about yesterday uses 'Snake' as an alias name. Honestly he goes by many names."

  "Why?" I queried.

"He hates his real name." Mark said, trying to suppress another laughter from escaping.

"What's his real name then?" I asked curiously.

Mark snorted. "His name is-" He stopped midsentence when he peered in to my eyes, his face slowly morphing into a grimace. "Never mind." He grumbled.

  "What!? Why!?" I cried.

"Seeing you being curious about a man makes me angry." He explained and quickly walked to the black car with tinted windows.

My jaw went slack and I glanced at Snake who was holding Mark's and mine bags; gazing at him pleadingly. "You know his real name, don't you?" I asked, pushing out my bottom lip.

Snake contemplated whether he should say it or not before opening his mouth. "His name is-"

"DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE SAY ANYTHING!" Mark boomed and Snake shut his mouth instantly and only shrugged at me with an obtuse expression as he walked to the driver seat.

Throwing up my arms in the air I cried out in frustration

  "COME ON!"
