Chapter 131: The Mistress's Karma

'Did I know that Heather was bad news for you ? Yes, I did. Did I know that they are going to go that far? No, I didn't. Did I regret going about the matter that way? Yes, I would forever regret it.

But Sapphire, if it comes back again and we go back to the beginning, I would still try to get Oliver away from you but I won't go about it the way I did that hurt all of us like that.

I know where I did it all wrong, Sapphire. I shouldn't have made it so blatantly obvious that you are my favorite daughter, I should have tried to love all of you equally, at least. If I had done that I wouldn't have turned a blind eye to Marylynne abandoning you and Brielle raising you, I should have tried to get her to at least tolerate you even if she is never going to love you.

I should have let you and your father be closer, maybe, when I tried to do something bad, he would refuse down to earth. Felix wasn't supposed to be able to take advantage of you, yet I allowed it since it is adding to my plan. Arielle wasn't supposed to provide drugs that would lead to your doom and Venita wasn't supposed to have submitted it for a million dollars, they wouldn't have had all that gut if they knew that I strongly opposed whatever it was that they are doing.

But since all the 'what if" can't be reversed and 'I should have" can't come to reality, I can only ask for forgiveness.

I am sorry, so sorry.

I discovered that you went to Gisborne the year you arrived in the country. I had no right to drag you back without providing a good back up plan. So I searched everywhere for a good man, the kind of one that would understand your pain and would be immune to Conrads and Grays power, then I found Alexander and knew that he would be the one.

I couldn't have felt more pleased when I was informed that both of you met at the airport, then I saw the way he looked at you and my mind was at peace.

What old man's confusion? I deliberately did that to not let Melissa and your mother wound you down when you first arrived, by the time they knew that he is not an old man, then also knew not to cross Alexander.

No matter what happens Sapphire, do not let Alexander go.

Sapphire, you have to be very careful, I don't doubt Alexander's ability to protect you but you have to be very careful.

There is a dangerous person hiding underneath who is up to some big schemes, even more dangerous than Oliver, the man doesn't dare to cross that hidden person." Sapphire read this sentence with furrowed brows, is her grandmother trying to tell her something?

'Is someone in the house working for that person? Yes. Is that person a member of the Conrad family? I don't know but they seemed to be everywhere.

Take care of your kids and yourself, I am sorry that I didn't get to know them before I hurried over.

With love, grandmother."

Sapphire rested her head on the wall when she finished reading the letter. How funny it was that even those kids aren't hers, her grandmother would never know that. At least she went with the joy that she has some great grandchildren who would always smile when they remember her.

Whoever the new dangerous person is, she would worry about all of that later. She just needs the time to get her thoughts together and admit that there is a probability that her grandmother was killed by someone. She knew that she would be killed but didn't bother to stop it. Why? She would also worry about that later, she just needed a long cold bath and some time alone on some rooftop.

She tried to stand up and Alexander quickly helped her, she removed her hand from his when she was standing on her feet, he stared at her with sad eyes but didn't say anything.

'Are you ready to go home?" He asked and the only reply he got was a nod.

Doctor Mike sat in silence as he waited for Heather to be brought out to him, he was determined to find out what on earth Oliver did to the woman. While Heather isn't the nicest of the bunch, it would be good news for them if she turned their back to Oliver.

'What? A doctor? I didn't said that I am sick," he heard and raised his head up to stare at Heather's face, she must have run her mouth off because her eyes were bruised and swollen, there were cuts on her dry lips, her hair looks extra messy and there was none of the sophisticated Heather Smith who is Oliver Gray's fiance present.

'Let's talk Heather, I am not here to treat you in the first place," he said simply, staring straight into her eyes and the woman nodded after a bit.

'I guess that I should hear what you have to say. You are a friend of Oliver so I should allow you that chance, now what do you want?"

'I am not a friend of Oliver and I want you to get that straight," he replied.

'Then what are you doing here? All the people coming here just want to talk about Oliver. All those people in that damn cell sing every day is the fact that I am Oliver's fiance. I am so sick of it." She said in irritation.

Mike took that as a good sign, she is getting irritated that Oliver is leaving her here in the prison for damn too long but still won't admit it.

'I never said that I am not here to talk about Oliver," he said nonchalantly and she rolled her eyes.

'I only informed you so that you can talk minimally about him, I am so pissed at him at the fucking man."

'Why? Because he won't get you out of prison or because he is blocking your family from bailing you out? Just so I add to the long list, he is the one preventing you from going to court where you might be vindicated," Mike said and Heather stared at her a bit before she scoffed.

'Do you seriously expect me to believe that crap?" She asked but Mike could see the shadows of doubt in her eyes.

Poor woman. She is trying hard to believe that Oliver is not an asshole who would discard you after he is done with you.

'You wouldn't say that after watching and listening to this video. This is from the dash cam of my car and the recording on my phone, I only had the recording to begin with but I think that you would find it more believable when you see a video to watch while listening." He informed her and pressed play on the screen.

His conversation with Oliver the day they both got out of prison and Heather admitted to be the one who did all the things that happened showed up and Heather's eyes reddened in anger and betrayal.

'What?"

'Yes. what? That is what I am trying to find out now. What you know about the man so much that he resorted to doing this to you and what he did to you in particular. Here he also informed the shareholders at his company that he had no idea you were to do all of this and did it alone. He also admitted that you were the one that played that video at the award in order to drag you in the mud.

Turns out, as he had said, he had gotten the gist of your bad behavior and he was scolding you. In a moment if anger, he also threatened to leave you and that's why you did all of that.

I don't know when Venita started doing anything other than modeling, everyone knows that she is a woman who just wants to pose for the camera till she retires, but as it turns out, she is the one that helped him discover your tricks and antics.

The idiot had a press conference last night and it aired today. He said that you are a bad woman that no one had to be involved with and said Venita is a good woman who would go to lengths for those who are very close to her.

Read this article and you will understand." Mike said, giving her a piece of paper that Heather stared at in disbelief.

Oliver and Heather were standing there with a lovely smile draped on their lips.

An officer came to lead her away and wanted to collect the paper from her but was stopped by the detective that investigated Heather.

'That's also part of the investigation," she told him after Heather was taken away when she saw the confused look on her face.

'Detective," Mike said and she turned to look at him.

'Doctor Mike," she replied.

'I don't think I have the right to be called a doctor anymore. I don't have a medical license anymore. Just Mike is fine,"

'Are you sure that this is going to work?" She asked and he nodded.

'That's the best way to rile her up, she should distrust Oliver, that's only when we would be able to get her to talk. She is missing huge chunks of her memory and didn't even realize that."

'I would also tell the wardens to take good care of her. Those women that beat her up didn't cause a fight with her because they are trying to teach her a lesson or because she ran off her mouth. I suspect that they were trying to execute her, I would be careful not to make them end up alone and specifically add a woman whose duty is to protect her in her cell."

'We just have to be careful not to spook the women or let them get any idea of what is going on. Did you think Oliver sent them?"

'I believe the man did." The detective said firmly.
