Chapter 124: Something To Thank Each Other For

She massaged her temple in frustration as she tried to recount every bit of what she did the previous night, the details were blurry and disconnected. She can't believe that her mind slipped away just like that, she would not be able to go to work again if it had been daytime.
The door opened and Alexander entered the room, he paused when he saw that she was awake and ran his eyes all over her, probably checking for whatever would hint to him that she is not alright. She felt shy and embarrassed so she closed her eyes and turned her head to stare at the other side.
She felt the bed dip beside her and her hand reached into her hair to massage her scalp, she hummed in approval at the good feeling and when she turned to look at him, he had a small smile on his lips.
'How are you feeling?" He asked and she groaned before hiding her face.
'Don't let me get started on how embarrassed I am, it is just a recording. How could I slip like that?" She said in disbelief, her voice was a bit muffled.
He pulled the duvet from her face and kissed her on the lips passionately. When she stared up at him with innocent eyes, he smiled at her surprised face.
'I still love you Sapphire and I would always do. I am glad that you are so comfortable around me that even in a semi-conscious state you still trust me," he told her while she just stared at him. 'And it isn't just a recording, it means a lot to you."
'You never found out what was in it?" She asked him in surprise and she shook her head. 'You had the whole of last night and this morning, plus, you would know how to handle me when I watch the second part."
'I want us to watch it together and surprise both of us."
'Gods, Alexander!"
'It would be some sort of way to test my ability to adjust to your needs even when I am in shock, think of it as a sort of experiment. Life doesn't come in replays where I can watch it first so that you can find out later, if it had been someone who hated us that wanted to break the news to us, they wouldn't tell us separately," he explained to her and Sapphire wondered why this man was still putting her first.
'Hmm," she nodded before moving to peck him on the lips. 'You are sweet," she told him and he only smirked at her.
'You are scared to find out, aren't you?" He asked and she licked her lips before nodding.
'I am afraid of the kind of things I would find out and what kind of feeling I would have towards her for what she did to me. I don't want to hate my grandmother, I can't help but resent her already, and knowing that she was involved in everything that went down three years ago gives me an upset stomach." She replied and he nodded before moving closer to give her a hug.
'So do you have any nightmares?" He asked and she paused before giving a small nod.
'The time Melissa and Heather came to my house and had the thugs beat the hell out of me," she paused and Alexander nodded encouragingly. 'I told you about it right?" She asked and he nodded once again. 'I had a recap of that day, only that this time, my grandmother was there standing at a corner and watching everything that was happening without involving herself in the mess.
She stayed at her spot even after Melissa and Heather left and watched them deal with me. It was awful, the feeling was three times more terrible than the moment itself. She was there when I was rushed to the hospital by Felix's men and also there when the doctor told me that I lost the baby, everything was a mess.
I hurried out of the room after her, to find some sort of comfort with her but I lost her," She explained and Alexander pulled her closer to himself.
'But you didn't cry or whimper like you do when you have a nightmare," Alexander said and she nodded.
'That's because when I got out and lost her, I found you and the kids and we had a mini family time," she told him with a smile and raised her head to stare at her. 'Thank you Alexander. I am happy that you are my escape, my safe haven both in reality and in my dreams. Thanks a lot."
He rubbed her forehead on hers and they both smiled at each other.
'I am more grateful that you allowed me to be the one, we have something to thank each other for so let us call it even with a kiss," he said with a teasing smile and she nodded before they both kissed each other.
'So do you want to find out what is in that flash now or should we ignore it and hang out, take a walk, go to the mall and whatever awful things you ladies do to make yourselves feel better? I would prefer it if we went into that theater and watched some cool movies. There is no one at home and all is cool or we could make out like bunnies, your choice."
'Don't start teasing now Alexander and let us get that thing over with already. I would take you up on your offer to go shopping with me later, maybe the bunnies part too but cinema and movies is on the to-do list of a boyfriend, I can't let you earn two badge with one achievement," she replied in an equally teasing manner, move closer to him and peck him on his lips before getting a laptop and the flash drive.
She placed it on the bed and sat on her man's lap, making sure all their body parts were touching. She needed every bit of assurance she could get from him and he understood that which made him wrap both his hands around her waist firmly; a promise that he would never let her go.
She exhaled and pressed play on the recording.
'How you didn't make any effort to stop the news because it was beneficial to you and the asshole won't stand up to tell the public that Sapphire is the most loyal girlfriend anyone could ever get. You also kept pushing back the wedding and kept making the Grays wish that I am their daughter-in-law. You were quite pleased when Mr. Theo said it straight to her face.
You knew that she was drugged and never stood to support her. You were right outside on the other side of the street the day we went with thugs to that dingy apartment to beat her up. You were the one that made a woman call the ambulance and had some men rescue her when she tried to fall into the water. The only time you had nothing in her life was when she ran away with the help of that doctor.
You even went ahead and threatened the doctor to give you information but met a dead end because the man doesn't even know where she went and you searched wide and near for her.
You got her and got her married to the wealthiest and most graceful of all men you could find because what? She is your beloved granddaughter, she is the one you love the most and would accept her with her flaws, even when she came with some bastard kids. You got her back, what?! You want me to spill all of these to her or even worse?!" Melissa yelled. 'Don't act like a saint here. We are all devils. At least she sees my horns and yours remain hidden beneath that smile.
'Her life was threatened! She would have been dead if I hadn't done that!" Her grandmother's voice was that of firm resolution, she still didn't think what she did was wrong.
'I wonder if she would put that tiny clause of yours into consideration when hating you. Her life was threatened which is why you sent her over the edge? I wonder what happened to sitting down and talking to each other like fucking adults. For her own good?" Melissa laughed mockingly, gasping for breath at some point. 'How about you go for comedy? You make bloody jokes that are hilarious as fuck!" Melissa said and continued laughing. 'I want your signature on that budget or your dear granddaughter who is probably packing her things to Aldine's house like some whore would jump into the fastest plane and disappear from the surface of the earth once again."
And the recording stopped playing, Sapphire turned and buried her face in Alexander's chest and cried.
