Chapter 40: Sucked Into The Abyss

'What do you think that man wants?" Andrew asked.
'Who knows? Mom said that he is part of the Conrad family, he also said that he has a message for her from the rest so we just wait and watch." Andrea replied, staring intently at the man.
'Why is he asking about our dad though, I don't see how that is any of his business," Andrew said, and Andrea nodded.
'What do you think would happen if your dad shows up?" Alexander asked and Andrea stared at him in confusion.
'Aren't you our dad?" Andrea asked and Andrew rolled his eyes.'He is talking about our birth father, mom called it bio- something," Andrew said.
'Biological," Alexander said and Andrew nodded.'Yes, that is the word!" He confirmed.
'It depends on who the man is, if you turned out to be our father then we would stay," Andrea said and Andrew nodded, Alexander raised a brow at the kids.
'Though the chance is pretty much impossible, mom never told us and we never asked, anything that has to do with her past threw her into her mind and she would get lost in her head. Aunt Luci said that we should not mention it, she would tell us when she is ready," Andrew explained.
'And if you are not, which is highly possible and true, then our dad would have to live with seeing us once in a while because we are not going to leave you,"
'We already gave you the ‘dad' position, we are not taking it back from you,"
'Yeah, you are our dad, but if it is that weird man from the party that is our father, we are so not having anything to do with it, thinking about the possibilities makes me want to change the DNA that binds us together," Andrea said, scrunching her nose in disgust.
'Why does it look like they are not talking about anything?" Andrew asked and they paid more attention to them. 'It is like mom is motionless," he added.
Alexander scrunched up his brows in a frown,thinking of what could be wrong before it all clicked in his head.
'Shit! No!" He said and, speed out of the room, the garden as his destination.

'Mr. Gray," The secretary said, after she entered the office and Oliver raised his head to stare at her.
'Yeah?"
'This is the list of the new employees at SJAY, it was delivered now, they will all resume to work on Monday," Maria explained, dropping a file in front of Oliver.
He took it and opened it as he went through it, staring at the names and their potential, which was listed in the file.
'Your lunch with Ms. Carter is at three, I informed her already and she confirmed that she was okay with it," Maria continued and Oliver nodded. He continued looking through the file.
'What do you think her purpose is for investing a hundred million dollars in our company, she obviously wants to keep a low profile or she would have come with a lot of lawyers and mass media,"
'Maybe Sparkle just caught her attention, she is obviously new to the business world and very nice, if you play your cards right, you would be able to know her real intentions today," Maria said. 'I went through her profile and saw that she had never been involved in the business world, at least, not openly,"
'Okay." Oliver said, with a loud sigh when a name caught his attention among the long list of names in the file. 'Wait, what? Why is Sapphire joining SJAY as the Strategic Planning Manager?" Oliver said in disbelief.
He remembered that she was introduced at the party by one of the employees in SJAY but he didn't think much of it, was she for real?
'Sir?" Maria asked, looking around in confusion, wondering who Sapphire was.
'You can go and don't let anyone in" He said, curtly, a tone that left no room for a conversation or argument and she went out of the office but not before glancing at her boss.
Oliver stood up and went to the safe that was in his office, he pressed a long password and opened it, he reached inside, ignoring the cash that was stacked on one side, he carried all the folders that were arranged on the other side and went to the table.
He placed the files on the table and stared at it, a paper was stuck on it and written on it in bold and block letters was ‘Ideas for SJAY and Sparkle'.
He raised five of the folders and saw that they were all marked, leaving just two or three, he didn't bother to count it.
'It is really about time you come back Sapphire, the ideas you left are almost out,"

Sapphire finished her word and they just stared at each other, he had hurt written all over his face while just she maintained the blank stare.
She prayed with all her heart that her mind wont wander or at least, Matthew should have left before it did but it seemed that her prayers weren't answered because she felt herself being sucked into that dark abyss again.
FLASHBACK
THREE YEARS AGO
'I don't know what is going on, if it is some sort of miracle or not but your baby is still there inside of you, hanging on a thin thread," The doctor told Sapphire, in the ward when it remained only them.
The nurses had administered treatment and Sapphire is very conscious now, she was in and out of it for two days.
'Thread?" She asked.'Unfortunately, your womb is damaged and can't house a fetus but that kid is still there breathing," The doctor explained.
'You should really take care of this one, this is your last shot at babies, there is nothing you can do to redeem it unless a miracle like this happens to you again. I am actually placing the bet that a miracle will happen again, you seem to have luck with you everywhere you go, first it is the survival of both twins when you were extraordinarily stressed, then one survived an abortion and now, it is living in a damaged womb,"
Sapphire hands went to her stomach and she touched it, wondering what she had done to deserve the bad luck that befell her and the blessing of this child. 'Thank you,"
'I have contacted your brother, Maxwell, his contact was the second number you dialed last, the last number was unreachable," The doctor explained, and Sapphire nodded, it would be a curse if it is Melissa that came to the hospital instead.
She had called her and asked her to send some money into her account so that she could go home easily, when she was at the lounge but Melissa had insisted that do the calculation of how she spent the money that she exhausted, even though she sounded so desperate and troubled enough.
That was what she had insisted on when she wanted to follow Oliver after he brought her the news at Bridal Palace, so she had trekked and had thought she would do the calculations at home.
'I paid for the bills, Sapphire," Maxwell said beside her and she flinched, she didn't know when he entered. 'Your card had no balance on it, do you want to go home now? How did you even end up in the hospital once again, do you know how worried I was when I didn't see you at home for two days?" He asked and Sapphire only let out a weak smile.
'I was out of it, those reporters crowded me and I fainted, then I ended up at the hospital," She explained, she had told the doctor to keep her case confidential.
'What are they even talking about, some knew about me cheating on Oliver,"
'Where were you all these days, under the rock, did you even watch the news?" Maxwell asked and she shook her head. 'This would probably be heartbreaking but you have to see this," he said, with sadness and turn on the T.V, what Sapphire saw made her eyes widened and her shattered heart bled.
On the television screen, was the main and major members of the Conrad family, they were having what seemed to be a conference or perhaps interview, she didn't bothered to figure it out, her uncle, her aunt, her mother, her father and Melissa were talking to a bunch of reporters
'I am really sorry for what Sapphire did, I, as her mother, is apologizing on her behalf, I am thoroughly ashamed to do this but what has to be done would be done. It is true that Sapphire worked at a club as a stripper just as the picture and videos pointed but I hope that everyone understands that our dear family and company didn't know anything about it," her mother said with tears in her eyes.
'We apologize to Gray for the loss she caused to them and to Sparkle, we are ready to make her face responsibility," Melissa added.
