Sapphire stood in front of the mirror with a gummy smile on her face, she was over the moon, ecstatic and overwhelmed with happiness, the attendant beside her smiled at the bride to be when she saw the smile on the her face

She had been working for years but she could swear that among the few rich women who married, her smile was the brightest, it was done with all the organs that made up her face.

'Oh my god! I love this too, I don't know which dress I should choose. Everything looks so beautiful, or is it because I am finally getting married to Oliver?" She asked, moving to and fro, checking out the wedding gown she wore and the attendant smiled.

The lady really loved her fiance, she told her how long they had been together before finally deciding to get married and she couldn't be happier, everything she had been doing since she walked in was for her fiance.

'I wish Heather was here to tell me her thoughts, maybe then it wouldn't be so hard to decide,"

'You must really love your best friend,"

'Of course! I love her, she is the best, I trust her with my life," she replied with an amount of confidence that made the attendant wish she had someone as loyal to her as this beautiful lady is.

She changed out and tried another one, while she was drooling over the design, a man in a suit came to them and judging by the way her eyes brightened, the attendant guessed that he was the groom.

'Oliver," she said happily and ran to him, with the intention of hugging him but was pushed back gently by him.

Sapphire's expression changed a bit but she couldn't bring herself to worry about anything, it was a happy day for her, she won't spoil it.

She was rarely truly happy, happiness to her was rarer than diamonds, he was her only source of getting to it and this wedding was only one of those benefits he gave.

'How was your day? What do you think about this gown, would it fit with your suits, do you think it compliments each other well?" She asked with all her attention.

Whatever her man says would be the decision she makes.

'I have something to give you and tell you," Oliver said and Sapphire stopped, red flags popped up in her head but she shook it away, they were only her weakness, the insecurities that strive to overcome her, Oliver would do her no harm.

She trusts him.

'What is it darling?" She asked with a smile and went to sit on the chair, staring at him as he took out a piece of paper from pocket. He stretched it to her and she saw that it was an invitation card .

'Did you have another card designed for our wedding, I thought you loved that blue, you said it was elegant and why would you use the orange color, you always hated it," Sapphire said, staring at the invitation card like it was some plague.

'That's how I saw it," Oliver said before taking her hand and dropping the card on it. 'I am officially inviting you to our wedding," he said and she laughed though it was strained.

'What are you talking about, you are inviting a bride to her wedding? Is that the trend nowadays?" She asked with a shaky voice, she didn't want to believe what her mind was telling her, Oliver won't do that to her.

'Whoever told you that you are the bride?" Oliver asked and her head started ringing, her eyes were moving from left to right, she squeezed the dress tightly with her hand while the other held the card limply.

'The wedding is taking place in four days and I would love you to be there," he said and adjusted his suit. 'By the way, you are right, I still hate that color but that is what she wanted and her wish is my command," he said with a small smile and Sapphire eyes started to water, maybe he was playing games on her, he had always loved to do that.

‘Who are you kidding? Oliver does not tease you, he says whatever he wants fair and square' her brain countered the thought in her mind, she was trying to assure herself, maybe if she was able to convince herself, the soul destroying chills that his going through her soul would subside.

'I would like you to be present but even more so the bride," he said and stepped away from her when she tried to reach out to him. 'She would love you to be there, after all you are her bestie," he added and walked out of the room.

Sapphire flinched like someone just dumped a bucket of ice on her, she shakily opened the invitation card and written in a beautiful cursive font was her best friend's name, Heather Smith.

And her heart shattered into a million pieces.

Sapphire stared at the apartment in front of her nodding in her determination, she wouldn't mind the demons that were already crawling out of where she locked them, or the words that kept replaying itself in her head.

She believed that Oliver was misunderstanding something, or maybe it is a weird trick they decided to play on her like some kind of prank so they have to straighten it out.

She clutched her bag closer to herself and mustered up a smile, nothing can stop her from doing this. She was scared of confronting Oliver, she hadn't done it in years, he believes that only mannerless ladies do that and she doesn't want to become that kind of lady to him.

'It is not like I am going to be screaming or insulting him, we would just have a civil conversation, we aren't going to yell," Sapphire muttered to herself, she needed a lot of self-covincing to do in order to go against her belief, what she had ingrained in her mind as right and wrong.

The elevator was out of service and not even her headache or sprained ankle could stop her from using the stairs.

She got to the door and let out a heavy sigh, she rested on the door and tried to catch her breath before she tried his password. She exhaled in relief when she saw it open, he didn't even change his password so they are cool.

She entered the room and saw that it was empty, she stared around before moving to the bedroom, she opened the door and entered. What she saw made her brain freeze and tendered all her body immobile, the bag she was holding dropped from her hand.

Heather was lying down on the bed, cladded in lingerie, her thighs were out in public and she looked like she just took a bath and creamed her body because it was glowing in the dim light.

Oliver stood in front of her with a towel wrapped around his waist and a predatory look in his eyes, he only got it when he was about to have sex.

'What the hell is she doing here?" Heather asked in annoyance and stood up from the bed, she picked up the glass of wine that was on the table and walked towards her.

'Heather…" she said when she was finally able to talk, the lump in her throat made her voice sound hoarse.

'What? Are you surprised? I thought Oliver already told you about us," she said with a cocky smile that was tearing up every single piece of the barrier she caged her demons with.

'Why? Why did you….." she said, trying to blink back the tears that were gathering in her eyes, she didn't want to cry in front of them, they didn't deserve the satisfaction of seeing it.

'Why did I do it? Why don't you take a guess? It is because you so fucking arrogant!" She screamed on her face and for the first time, Sapphire saw the real Heather that hid behind the mask she could say with all the confidence in the world that she didn't know her.

'You are jealous? Don't tell me that you are not, if you weren't you wouldn't back—-" Sapphire was cut off with a glass landing on her face, it was thrown with such force that it shattered.

She screamed in pain and touched her face and her eyes widened in horror when she saw the blood all over it.

'What? Backbite? Cheated you? You tell me that you are helping me but you have no idea how much I hate it," Heather said, slapping her on her cheek, she fell because of the impact and hit her head on the floor causing nausea to come over her.

Heather kneeled beside her and yanked her head up with her hair, Sapphire let out a groan.

'You even wore a wedding gown here, then why are you late, don't tell me that you trekked from the place you picked the dress," she asked mockingly and tightened her hold but it softened when she noticed a paper peeking out of Sapphire's bag.

She removed the paper and her eyes widened when she saw the content written on it.

'Why the hell is she three months pregnant for you, I told you to stop touching her," she yelled at Oliver and he hurried to check the paper.

'Doesn't matter if it was months or days, she is getting rid of that baby, I would carry her to the hospital and abort the nonsense in her," Oliver said coldly and Sapphire's heart squeezed in pain.
