But in his eyes, there's only Lily Smith.
Even when he's right in front of me, close enough to touch, I can feel his heart isn't here at all.
Four years ago, my brother found Lily Smith homeless by the roadside.
My brother, usually so outgoing, suddenly turned shy in Lily's presence.
He just asked quietly: "Do you want to come with me?"
Lily nodded.
From then on, my brother, who used to always hover around me, shifted all his attention to Lily.
I often teased him about falling in love at first sight.
But now that I've fallen into it myself, I get it.
I feel the same way about Ethan Shaw.
Just then, Lily came downstairs and our eyes met.
She was still holding the hundred-thousand-dollar teddy bear my brother had given her.
But as soon as she saw Ethan Shaw, her hand loosened, and the bear dropped straight to the floor.
"Ethan dear."
She called to him, her voice honey-sweet.
Ethan Shaw was about to walk towards her when he suddenly glimpsed the red marks my brother had left on Lily's neck.
He took a deep breath, turned sharply, and picked me up as I crouched nearby tugging at his pant leg.
"Want to come with me?"
I nodded.
He smiled gently, wiped away the moisture at the corner of my mouth, but his gaze was so intense my heart skipped a beat.
"If you come with me, don't regret it."
With that, he grabbed my wrist and, under Lily's stunned gaze, whisked me into his car.
