Lilith softly extended her hand and lightly placed it on Adeline's arm. She turned to her with a warm expression of gratitude and spoke, 'I honestly want to thank you for supporting me during this trying time in my life."
I observed how the two exchanged a glance that seemed to hold a deep understanding between them, a connection that had been built on trust and loyalty over time. Feeling the need to give them some space, I took a step back and gently let go of Lilith's hand.
It was as if something heavy settled into my chest, making me feel a bit sad. I then spoke to her, 'Now you should go. Make your way back to the palace and make sure to stay near Adeline. I need to handle some important things on my own."
'Please be careful my dear." Lilith's voice shook just a little bit as she looked deeply into my eyes and I could see a mix of concern and love in her expression.
I nodded my head slowly, fully realizing just how much fear was reflected in Lilith's eyes. I leaned in and gently placed a quick kiss on her forehead, knowing it was the best I could do at that moment.
After that period, she and Adeline started to walk together in the direction of the palace. As I watched them walk away, it was as if I was separated from a piece of me, something very important to me.
A cold and uncomfortable sensation began to rise inside me, making everything feel more real and intense than ever.
I quickly turned to face Ronan, who had been watching us without saying a word during our conversation. 'Ronan!" I exclaimed.
'We need to go to the armory right away. It's important that we gather every fighter who is able to join us and get them ready for what's coming. We need to do this immediately!"
'Yes Alpha!" Ronan said in a quick voice, making an effort to walk as fast as I was.
As we walked through the long hallways, I began to explain my plan in detail. 'Everyone in our pack who is able to use a weapon effectively will be summoned to prepare for battle. It is very important that we do not overlook or underestimate the power and strength of Augustus. At this critical time, we need to gather all the support we can possibly find, so every pair of hands will be essential in this situation."
'Some are still getting better from past fights," Ronan said, keeping his speed. 'Can we really trust them?"
'They are willing to fight if it means keeping their home safe and secure," I said with strong determination. 'And I will make sure to remind them of that important fact."
We arrived at the armory located in the barracks and saw that Kael was getting ready to leave. I walked over to him, and it was clear that I felt a strong sense of urgency which showed in my face and in the way I stood. I called out to him, 'Kael! I need to give you some important instructions before you head out."
Kael lifted his gaze and gave a small nod of acknowledgment. He then asked politely 'What is it that you require from me, Alpha?"
'When you cross into their territory make sure to aim for their stores and any resources they have. It is important to interrupt their supply chains. Our goal is to break their hold over your thoughts and decisions. Stay focused on achieving victory. If they become aware of our approach, it will spoil our advantage of surprise."
'I understand what you're saying. I will make sure that they truly regret the betrayal they have committed," Kael said confidently. The fierce determination in his eyes showed that he was ready for the fight ahead.
'That's it. Now off you go!" I gave him a solid clap on the back, propelling him forward with determination.
Once Kael left the room, I waved my hand to call for my generals who are in charge of the army. As soon as I did this, the large hall started to come alive with the noise of metal pieces clinking together and the sound of parchment or paper being moved around as they all came together.
With a sense of purpose, I carefully opened a large map and spread it on the table before us. The atmosphere in the room was that of tension as everyone gathered around to take a look at the map.
I pointed at specific locations on the map and said, 'We really need to come up with a strategy together. Right here." I indicated one spot with my finger, 'and over here."
I marked another spot: 'These are the vulnerable points where the pack's defenses are the weakest. I believe that we should make sure our attack is concentrated on both of these areas to be most effective."
A General leaned a bit closer to the map that was spread out in front of him. He narrowed his eyes as he studied it carefully.
'What if," he said thoughtfully, 'they decide to send more troops to strengthen those particular areas? If that happens, we could end up encountering resistance that we weren't prepared for or didn't see coming."
'Then we will create a distraction in another location, aiming to divide their forces as much as we can," I responded, my voice growing more intense with urgency. 'Ronan, what information are the scouts providing us?"
Ronan took a step closer to the table and his hands tightly held onto the edge of it. He spoke seriously, saying 'I have important news. One of our scouts has just come back from his mission. He has reported to us that Augustus and his entire army will arrive here by the time the sun sets tonight."
I could feel my jaw tightening and my knuckles were turning pale because I was struggling to manage the excitement building up inside me. 'I will be prepared by that time," I said confidently.
'Let's get moving!" I told the generals, firmly directing them to go to the specific tasks I had assigned to each of them. As they all started to spread out and carry out their duties, I took a deep breath and walked outside.
As I did this, I could feel the enormous weight of the world resting heavily on me, a reminder of the responsibilities I had to bear.
As I looked around, I saw a lot of soldiers and workers moving quickly in different directions. The sound of metal clanging against metal could be heard along with people shouting commands to one another all while a sense of urgency filled the atmosphere.
Every person's face showed the determination and strong spirit of brave individuals who were all coming together for a shared goal…
