Chapter 15

Sebastian threw himself into his game development—pitching to publishers, testing builds, courting investors, building his team, preparing for launch.
Though he had partners, as founder and lead developer, everything ultimately fell on his shoulders.
Yet even at his busiest, he'd find moments to check in.
At night—when vampires were most alert—he'd video call me.
On screen, Sebastian would appear hunched over his desk, hair tousled, eyes tinged red from hunger, looking adorably pitiful. "Exhausted. Miss you."
"Rest if you're tired. I'm doing fine."
I leaned forward to press a kiss against the screen.
Reluctant to end our call, he'd ask, "What have you been doing today?"
"Just shopping with friends, afternoon tea, spa treatments." I counted on my fingers, then asked quietly halfway through, "Sebastian, am I too lazy?"
"Not at all."
His lips curved into that gentle smile I adored.
Against his supernatural pallor, his smile seemed almost otherworldly.
"This is exactly the life you should have."
"I want you carefree and happy, always. Even if you choose me, I never want you sacrificing your joy."
"Isabelle, I want to become someone worthy of standing beside you."
He spoke with such sincerity. Those eyes—crimson with hunger and love—made my heart flutter when they focused on me with such intensity.
Heat rushed to my face. I buried myself deeper in my blankets, unable to suppress my smile. "Okay."
