Chapter 5

"Boss Sarah, I'll tutor your daughter! Can I get extra lamb sliders?"
"I can help! Harvard math major here. Just save me some of that lamb!"
"Back off, Harvard! MIT Physics here, and I can teach too. Just save me a weekly portion, Boss!"
"Stanford CS major and state programming champion here. Don't need much—just a weekly lamb fix!"
"Look at all these posers! Boss, check MY credentials—perfect SAT score, now studying molecular biology at Harvard."
I kept scrolling through hundreds of comments, with students from every Ivy League school practically fighting to introduce themselves.
Mom replied in the comments: "Kids, I appreciate your kindness, but I can't afford tutoring fees for so many talented people."
Her reply was immediately buried under an avalanche of responses:
"Tutoring fees? Way too formal! Just hook us up with some extra lamb and we're square!"
"Seriously! What fees? We just want to help a hardworking kid chase her dreams!"
"Boss Sarah, we've been sick of these elite schools' ABO discrimination for years!"
"Exactly! Education should be equal—your status as Alpha or Beta shouldn't determine your opportunities!"
Reading these comments, my eyes welled up. These students from America's top universities didn't know me from Adam, but they were ready to go to bat for some small-town Beta girl.
Mom's eyes glistened with tears: "See, Lily? There are still plenty of good people in this world!"
She replied immediately: "Alright, deal! Anyone who tutors my daughter gets free lamb feasts every week!"
Within thirty minutes of that comment, academic Discord servers from Harvard, MIT, and Stanford were buzzing with activity.
Watching notifications flood my phone screen, I felt something I hadn't in months—hope, warm and genuine.
"Mom," I said, my voice catching, "I think I might actually have a chance now."
Within an hour, Mom's post had been shared thousands of times, with comments multiplying by the minute. The flood of encouragement gave me a feeling of support I'd never experienced:
"Don't give up, girl! Show those stuck-up Alphas what real talent looks like!"
"Education should be equal for EVERYONE! We've got your back!"
"Sarah's kid is going to crush it! We're all in your corner!"
